Bespoke Solutions For Security At Your Data Centre
With the world of data processing evolving at a rapid pace, you need a security provider who’s able to adapt at that same breakneck pace. We’re able to actively secure:
- AI Data Facilities
- Colocation Facilities & Carrier Hotels
- Cloud-Hosting Data Centres
- Data Warehouses & Storage
- Edge Data Centres
- Enterprise (“Wholly Owned”) Data Centres
- Hyperscale Facilities
- Managed Services Data Centres
- Modular & Flexible Data Centres
All of our data centre security packages are built on firm foundations, and customised to suit the challenges that face one of the UK’s fastest-growing industries.
Trained & Licensed Security Officers For Data Centres
The first line of security for your data centre should always be a human. While AI has made leaps in recent years, and with further developments already on the horizon, it’s important to maintain that human touch in your security measures. That’s where trained, SIA-licensed security guards excel and deliver an in-person approach to tomorrow’s tech-led future.
ProFM Group’s officers all comply with the physical security standards set out by the UK’s NPSA and NCSC guidelines, alongside full licensing and DBS vetting as part of their SIA training. Beyond that, any personnel we deploy will have completed specific, CPD-certified training on UK GDPR laws, as well as have site-specific knowledge to keep your servers secure.
Trusted By Data Giants Like TATA Communications
We’ve been fortunate enough to support one of the UK’s largest data facilities in TATA’s Stratford facility, delivering 24/7/365 manned guarding for over 12,000 square metres of active server space, secure colocation capacity, and cloud-enabled network connectivity and infrastructure.
Sophisticated CCTV Packages Built Around Your Facility
One of the most sought-after solutions for physical data centre security, modern CCTV has progressed at an exponential rate. The advent of AI technology has meant a renaissance in what we can expect from our surveillance, and how it can be integrated as part of a security package for data centres. ProFM Group’s position as an industry leader means we’re well ahead of the curve.
All of our CCTV packages are fully integrated with advanced AI detection designed to spot early warning signs of physical intrusion. Our NSI Gold accreditation means you receive the highest-quality engineering and maintenance work, including non-intrusive cabling and connectivity designed to operate independently of your data architecture.
Biometric & Facial Recognition Access Controls
Access to data centres can’t rely on easily-duplicable badges or ID fobs. The latest guidance from the NPSA calls for a “layered approach” to access control, and with data processing already mission-critical for so many, a trusted provider is essential in building that approach. At ProFM, we’re advocates for the use of biometric access controls at data centres.
Not only does that add an in-built layer of protection by metering out who can go where, but it’s a future-proofing method for evolving data storage standards. We deliver fully Paxton Gold-accredited solutions for access and control, and can implement both standalone solutions for small, cloud-based data storage, or fully integrated packages designed to segment your server rooms from your meet-me rooms with controlled, monitored access.
Cutting-Edge Intruder Alarms Designed For Data Centre Security
If you opt not to invest in a manned solution for your data centre’s security, you need an intruder alarm that can act as that last line of defence. It’s often paired with other solutions (like CCTV or monitoring packages), but it can’t – and shouldn’t – be an afterthought. Our range of intruder detection solutions at ProFM Group ensures it won’t be.
We’re fully Paxton Gold-accredited, ensuring that all the packages we deliver come with exceptional standards of installation, engineering, and maintenance. We’re also able to integrate with your building management system (BMS) where needed to ensure full detection of fire or sprinkler activation alongside intruders. Plus, with ProFM’s all-inclusive 24/7 monitoring, a solution is never far away.
Remote Monitoring & Rapid Response Security For Data Centres
While so much of data centre security is autonomous, there’s no understating the importance of human input. Our entire service offering is built on the strengths of our people, and for the security we provide for data centres, that’s incredibly important. All of our tech is monitored remotely through our own, ISO27001-compliant National Operations Centre (NOC), manned 24/7/365 by SIA-licensed operatives.
From there, we can remotely monitor your camera systems, intruder alarms, and any access controls for the first sign of any physical intrusion. In the event of that happening, we have a roster of on-call mobile officers who can arrive at the site, investigate the cause of the disturbance and escalate accordingly, all while maintaining the integrity of your facility.

Data Centre Security FAQs
Still unsure of our credentials in data centre security? Here’s a selection of our most-asked questions on security at data centres.
Still got a Question? We would always advise that a multi-layered security model be in place for a data centre. That begins with effective perimeter security in the form of CCTV cameras and routine mobile patrols to ensure that intruders and physical threats are stopped at the first hurdle.
Internally, you’ll first have a manned reception desk, with trained, SIA-licensed officers on hand to monitor CCTV footage and action any intrusions urgently. From there, you’ll have cascading layers of access controls to ensure that only authorised members of staff and visitors can access key areas, like data halls and meet-me rooms.
Yes. We ensure that all of the physical security measures we provide are fully compliant with the UK’s GDPR, and that we’re as focused as possible on matching the standards expected of an evolving industry.
The Barriers, Access, Detect, or BAD, methodology is an integral part of the NPSA’s Data Centre Security guidance. It’s a central part of how we secure the data centres we work with, and we develop strategies tailored to your data facility to ensure that we’re always meeting those requirements.
As a general rule, we’ll implement physical fencing solutions as part of that first line of defence, alongside layered access controls and AI-enhanced CCTV systems designed to accommodate both the Access and Detect functionality of the NPSA’s documentation. That’s all alongside our signature, expert security officers.
Yes, but only for the physical security measures you should have in place. We aren’t qualified to conduct cyber security assessments or analyses, but we’ve got over 30 years of experience in delivering bespoke site analysis to ensure you’ve got the right measures in the right places.
For data centres, that’ll include analysing key areas of restricted access (server halls, power and mechanical rooms, network operations, etc.) for tiered authorisation, plotting out routing and effective cable management for your systems, and planning security officer rotas and staffing to ensure 24/7 coverage.
Yes, if it’s needed as part of your site’s security. Our officers can be equipped to carry out non-intrusive searches if you have particular concerns around employee data theft or tampering with systems, as well as specific protocols around visitors.
No. Our sole focus is on physical security for data centres – we don’t have the right expertise or qualifications to deliver effective cybersecurity measures. Instead, you should look for companies that have expertise in Cyber Essentials, as well as ISO27001, ISO27017, and more specific qualifications like SOC 2 (which is specific to service data controls).
