About the role:

We have an exciting opportunity for a skilled Project Engineer (CCTV & Alarms) to join our team on a minimum 3-month contract, with the possibility of extension up to 12 months. This role is based in the South East, with travel to multiple sites across the UK as required. The successful candidate will focus on the installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of a range of security systems, including CCTV, intruder alarms, and access control.

In addition to a competitive rate, the role includes a company vehicle and fuel card, ensuring you have the tools needed to perform your duties efficiently. The working pattern is predominantly Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 17:30, with a 1-hour lunch break; however, due to the nature of the role, occasional work outside these hours may be required to meet project deadlines. The successful candidate must be willing to travel and work across multiple locations throughout the UK.

 

Duties and Responsibilities of a Security Systems Engineer.

  • Supervise and coordinate CCTV, alarm, and access control system installations on site.
  • Ensure installation work follows technical specifications, manufacturer guidelines, and safety standards.
  • Inspect and verify proper cable routing, device mounting, and connection of equipment.
  • Test and commission CCTV cameras, DVR/NVRs, alarm panels, sensors, and related devices.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during installation and commissioning.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, electricians, and site teams to maintain workflow efficiency.
  • Ensure timely completion of installation milestones and adherence to project schedules.
  • Prepare site reports, progress updates, and documentation of installation activities.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and security protocols on site.
  • Maintain inventory of equipment and coordinate material deliveries with vendors.
  • Train end-users on system operation during handover.
  • Conduct post-installation inspections and rectify defects or malfunctions.
  • Support maintenance and emergency call-outs as required.

 

Requirements:

  • Proven experience installing, testing, and commissioning CCTV, intruder alarms, and access control systems.
  • Strong technical knowledge of security system components and wiring practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and site layouts.
  • Hands-on experience with troubleshooting and resolving system faults on site.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to multiple sites across the South East.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills for coordinating with clients, subcontractors, and site staff.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to health and safety standards.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet project deadlines.
  • Flexible approach to working hours when site requirements demand it.
