About our client:

As a Relief Cleaning Operative, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining exceptional hygiene standards across a variety of sites throughout Shropshire and the West Midlands – including GP practices and medical centres where cleanliness is critical. This is a flexible and varied position, ideal for someone who takes pride in their work and enjoys a changing routine. While a minimum of 30 hours per year is guaranteed, there is strong potential for significantly more, with shifts mainly covering staff holidays and absences. A high standard of work, flexibility, and a willingness to travel between sites are essential.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Travelling to multiple sites across Shropshire and the West Midlands.
• Thoroughly disinfect and sanitise medical equipment, surfaces, and patient rooms.
• Follow strict infection control protocols to prevent the spread of infections.
• Properly handle and dispose of medical waste according to guidelines.
• Clean and sanitise public areas like waiting rooms, offices, kitchens, communal areas restrooms, and corridors.
• Perform specialised cleaning in critical areas like operating rooms.
• Maintain cleanliness and stock supplies in patient and public areas.
• Ensure cleaning equipment is well-maintained and functional.
• Communicate maintenance issues promptly to supervisors.
• Keep accurate records of cleaning activities for compliance.
• Adhere to health and safety guidelines, using PPE as needed.
• Respond to emergency cleaning situations effectively.
• Collaborate with cleaning and medical staff for a clean environment.

Requirements:

• Full UK Driving Licence and access to own vehicle
• Proven experience as a Cleaning Operative or similar role
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, proper storage, and disposal methods
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Attention to detail and thoroughness in completing tasks
• Good communication skills to report any issues or concerns to management
